01What you do
Set the budget. Hire and fire the manager and the sporting director. Approve or block transfers. Raise ticket prices and deal with the protests. Take the money from an investor you don’t trust, or turn it down and stay short.
Matches are reported to you, not played in a 3D engine. What you see is the result, the attendance, the injuries, and what the press says about it. Underneath is proper club accounting: wage bills, amortised transfer fees, and the squad cost rules that get clubs punished in real life.
You earn a salary in every job, and that money is what lets you buy a bigger club later.
02Why it’s different
-
1
The next job is the point
Football Manager keeps you at one club. Here the goal is the job after this one, and every decision either helps or hurts your chances of getting it.
-
2
Nobody forgets
The coach you sacked in year two turns up as an FA president in year nine, and he has a vote. Relationships carry across every job and every decade of a career.
-
3
You can always see why
When a result goes against you or a vote fails, the game tells you what caused it and what you could have done. No hidden dice.
03The world
The leagues, cups, calendar, and rules are copied from real football. The clubs, people, and governing bodies are made up, and a new set is generated each time you start a career.
The money and regulations are modelled on real documents: licensing rules, cost controls, transfer regulations, and what happens when clubs break them.
04Early access
A playable web version exists and a small group is testing it now. If you want a place, send an email. Tell us which role you would start in.
